What is Brain Death?

The diagnosis of brain death is the same as the diagnosis of brain stem necrosis. The brain stem is the part of the brain in which, among other things, it is based and the center of respiration.

The death of the brain stem should not be confused with what is called a "plant state", in which there is a loss of "higher brain functions" due to massive destruction of the cerebral hemispheres, but the brain stem functions and maintains respiration and the traffic.

The person who is a "plant", as long as he can breathe on his own, is not considered dead and the doctors will try to keep him alive as long as possible, with all the means at their disposal.

In medical records, there is not a single case of a person being described as brain dead.
